Three manufacturable pieces that serve as placemaking devices (choose three from the following five options): a seating fixture, light fixture, planter, shade structure, and an outdoor toy or game table, with particular emphasis on the dynamic relationship between pieces—how they cluster, group, and fit together to establish a PLACE for dialogue and community. To test the flexibility and adaptability of this series of products, show them in each one of the three sites in various combinations.
1
Watts. Los Angeles
Furnishings and potential shade structures that are reconfigurable for various outdoor scenarios within the open Meadow area of the Watts site
2
Echo. Atlanta
For the Echo Street West site, proposals should envision a collection of pieces that would serve to support the Forest Valley's retail and food & beverage programs.
3
Urban Infill. Chicago
Proposals should consider furnishings and potential shade structures / canopies for weather protection that support casual coffee and food service.
Placemaking
Placemaking, to me, represents vibrant spaces where people can briefly escape social roles, reconnect with themselves, and share beautiful moments.
I aim to infuse this natural essence into my designs, providing relaxation, a sense of belonging, and moments of joy.
Watts. Los Angeles
This location has the potential for users of multiple age groups due to its surrounding facilities and services, but it is primarily geared towards children and young adults.
Echo. Atlanta
In mixed-use areas that combine residential and commercial spaces, they not only attract local residents but also draw many tourists. People tend to gather for dining and leisure activities in these places.
Urban Infill. Chicago
The nearby office workers need a convenient way to have lunch, and the post-work leisure time provides people with opportunities for dining together and enjoying a drink.
